Vilma Talvitie is a Finnish independent alternative folk artist, singer-songwriter and performer based in Helsinki. Her music blends Nordic folk poetry and traditional melodies with original compositions and Finnish lyrics. Vilma's songs reflect themes of humanity, identity and emotion, carried by a bright and distinctive voice influenced by strong Finno-Ugric singing techniques.
A true one-woman band, Vilma explores the connection between music and movement. On stage, she performs with her unique concept instrument PianoBodyPercussion – a hypnotic live experience that combines vocals, piano, body percussion, hand percussion and dance elements.
Vilma holds a Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki (2018), and has performed in over 30 countries across four continents. Her debut solo album Mistä mihin | Whereto was released in October 2023. She has also released three albums with her folk-pop band Valma & Varsinaiset (2012, 2015, 2018).
Vilma is currently working on her second solo album Olio Alien, to be released in April 2026.
