VILMA TALVITIE SOLO
Vilma Talvitie is a Finnish singer, pianist, performing artist, composer and lyricist. As a composer, Vilma creates musical bridges between pop and folk music, merging Nordic and European folk stories and her own compositions, influenced by Eastern-European singing techniques. Vilma´ s debut solo album Mistä mihin was released on 13th October 2023.
In her solo project, Talvitie explores the dialogue between voice, movement and body. In her vibrant solo performances, she uses her audio-visually intriguing instrument PianoBodyPercussion, which combines vocals, piano keys, body percussions, percussions and dance.
VALMA & VARSINAISET
Valma & Varsinaiset (2010-) is known for their captivating on-stage performance and haunting storytelling. Their music and lyrics are based on something profoundly Finnish: honesty, solemnity and humor. Their songs are mainly written by the lead singer and pianist Vilma Talvitie, and the band has together created fresh arrangements out of them. One of the most distinctive elements of Valma & Varsinaiset's sound is their heavenly singing harmonies.
The band has released three albums: Tuli talvi, ei tahottu in 2012, Jalat alta in 2015; and Laulaja vailla ääntä in 2018.
100 SONGS AROUND THE WORLD
In the project 100 Songs around the world [100 laulua maailmasta], Vilma performs folk and traditional songs, that she has learned from local musicians in multiple countries during her travels between 2018 and 2020. The series of songs includes more than 70 languages and 100 countries or cultural areas.
